Steampunk Bracelet
Title: Pieces of my Life
Artist: Karson Lychuk
Course: Creative Metals
Teacher: Collen Turner
Medium: Aluminum, wire, rings, beads
Project Goal: To creatate a new steampunky piece with old materials
Personal review: I liked using my old jewlery and making it into something new. Adding the strings of beads really added a nice pop of color. I wish I had used smaller wire on the mood right because it made it very bulky; with smaller wire I would have been able to wrap it closer to the base and not dangling. I learned that smaller wire is much easier to work with and if I could do it again I would have used a thinner wire.
Elements and Principles of Design: The elements I used were shape and color. I used only silvers and greenish blue colors to make it more uniform. I shaped it in a swirling pattern and looped the wire around pieces more than nessicary to complete the look. The priciples I used were unity and balance. With such large pieces I had to balance them out with eachother. I couldn't have a bunch of pieces in the same area they hade to be spread out. I used unity by using small pieces such a wire and beads to tie everything together even though they were all vastly differ

Textured Ring
Titles: Textured Circles
Artist: Karson Lychuk
Course: Creative Metals
Teacher: Collen Turner
Medium: Silver and Copper
Project Goal: To create a multi-layered ring with texture.
Personal Review: This project in my opinion turned out the best. I was also the most challenging. Sodering the metals together was very diffcult but the apperance turned out good. I learned that you have to make sure the peices are flat before you soder them to make the process much easier. I wish I had buffered it more though. It could've been more shiny.
Elements and Principles of Design: I used Texture on two of the layers of metal and made the ring of all circles, the same shape. The principles I used were emphasis and porportion in this piece. I put the circles off center to create a focal point and made the circles different sizes to show the layers.

Chainmail
Titles: The Chains that Protect Me
Artist: Karson Lychuk
Course: Creative Metals
Teacher: Collen Turner
Medium: Silver
Project Goal: Create a piece of jewlery using chainmail
Personal Review: I like how functional this piece is and I'm proud of the claspe I created for it. A weakness is that it can break with out much strength because the circles aren't welded together. I learned that it is very important to have all of the rings the same size for a more visually appealing piece.
Elements and Principles of Design: I used shape and lines. I changed the shape of the wire into a wearable piece. The pieces has to make a straight lines out of circles. For principles I used unity and porportion. The rings had to be the same size to be uniform and they had to connect in order to not fall apart. The idea of chainmail is to make one peice out of singular pieces.
