Happiness
Artist: Karson Lychuk
Course: Drawing and Painting
Teacher: Tara Johnson
Subject Matter: Abstract
Medium: Pastel
Project Goal: Show what’s Important to me
Personal Review: I love this piece, because it had I the things that are most Important to me and my dreams. I used every single bright color I could because that’s just me a bunch of bright colors. I didn’t like that it was hard to read the letters spelling out happiness but it made it look very artistic
Elements and Principles of Design: I used warm and cool colors near each other to compliment the colors and used warm colors next to them to make them pop and stand out. I used an organic same that wasn’t exactly centered or symmetrical to be symbolic to my life and I used negative shapes where the shapes are outlined by the colors in the background.

Zebra
Artist: Karson Lychuk
Course: Drawing and Painting
Teacher: Tara Johnson
Subject Matter:Zebra
Medium: water color, pencil, marker
Project Goal: To make it a zebra rapped in ribbon
Personal Review: This is my favorite piece I’ve done so far The shadowing looks really good and the ribbons seem to drape onto the zebra. I like the idea of it very much but the one thing I don’t like is that the mane isn’t outlined enough.
Elements and Principles of Design: I used a analogous color scheme for the watercolor background and used the curved lines and shadows to make the zebra appear see-through and the ribbons are the strips and they outline the contours of it.
